Getting started

You can look around first

You do not need an account to see what is on the platform. The landing page at / and the product catalogue at /explore are open to anyone, and show availability by month, by broad area and in quantity bands — no prices and no sellers. See Public browsing for exactly what is and is not shown, and why.

Two ways to get an account

Registering is free, and there are two routes in.

Sign yourself up. Anyone can create an account at Create an account on the sign-in page. You confirm your email, then describe your organization in a short five-step form. The broker reviews it before you can publish anything to the market. Full detail: Registration & approval.

Be invited. The broker can also create an organization and invite people into it directly, with a role (owner or member), or invite another broker. An invited organization is approved from the start — the broker set it up, which is the review.

  • An invite arrives as a link by email. In local development (no email server) it is a copyable link the broker hands you.
  • Opening it takes you to Set a password → Activate account. After that you sign in normally.

Under the hood: your role and organization live in the database and are authoritative — nothing you can edit client-side changes them. On the self-signup route in particular, an account always starts as an ordinary organization user with no organization and no elevated role, regardless of what the sign-up request asks for; the organization is created afterwards, by you, once you are signed in.

Forgotten passwords

Forgot your password? on the sign-in page emails you a link to choose a new one. For privacy, the confirmation is the same whether or not the address has an account — OnlyTons does not reveal who is registered (see Operator privacy).

Signing in

Go to the sign-in page, enter your email and password. If your account has been disabled, you'll see a notice instead of the app — contact the broker.

A small verification widget sits below the password field on the sign-in, registration and password-reset forms. It checks in the background that you are a person and normally needs nothing from you — no puzzle, no image to interpret, no time limit. If it fails to load, reload the page. (This is why the forms satisfy WCAG 2.2's Accessible Authentication criterion — see Accessibility.)

You can switch the interface language (English / Italiano) from the switcher on the sign-in page, and any time afterwards from the bottom of the sidebar. See Languages & localization.

Finding your way around

After signing in you land on the Commodities catalog. The left sidebar is your map; what appears there depends on your role and your organization's capabilities:

DemandBroker, and organizations that are buyers or processors

At the top of the sidebar is the search box. Press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux) from anywhere to open it without reaching for the mouse — it searches products, availability and requirements in both Italian and English. See Search.

The sidebar footer has the language switcher and Sign out.

First steps by role

If you're the broker

  1. Skim the Dashboard to see value coordinated and open deals.
  2. Check Notifications — new demand that needs matching shows up here.
  3. Curate the catalog and verify organizations as they come online.
  4. When a demand needs filling, open Matching and build a deal.

If you're a producer or processor

  1. Open your organization profile and add your certifications (upload the certificate document).
  2. Publish supply — including forward windows for upcoming harvests. Link an organic certification if you want the entry to qualify as organic.

If you're a buyer or processor

  1. Browse the catalog and each commodity's availability timeline to see who has what, and when.
  2. Publish demand: what you need, by when, and to what standard. The broker is notified and starts matching.
